Who Am I?

I hate when people ask you to talk about yourself without giving any direction as to what they want to know. Humans are deep and complex individuals, each with many layers to their “About Me” bios. So what can I tell you about myself? I’ll give you the basics, in no particular order.

10 Things Everyone Should Know About Me

  1. My name is spelled S-T-E-P-H-E-N-I-E. I hate when people spell my name wrong. It shows that they don’t pay attention to detail.
  2. I have an intense fear of robots. It is also known as the Frankenstein Complex. If I elaborate, I will start crying. Don’t ask.
  3. I was born in New York. I spent the first twelve years of my life there. New York will always be home to me.
  4. I have one older sister. People think it’s strange how close we are. I think it’s strange when siblings don’t get along. How can you not be best friends with someone you’ve known you’re entire life?
  5. After graduation, I worked at web marketing firms. I didn’t feel like I was contributing to society and I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere so I decided to leave to pursue a new dream.
  6. In college, I majored in advertising. Currently, I’m lost and I have no idea what I want to do with my life.
  7. My parents are refugees from Vietnam. They were sponsored by an American family to come to the states. I call their sponsor family my foster family. Without their compassion, I wouldn’t be here today. Without the struggles my parents and family went through, I would not be as blessed as I am today. I am lucky to be surrounded by such hard working, inspiring people in my life.
  8. My motto in life is, “Do what makes you happy and f*** the rest.” It’s harsh, but true. I believe that you can’t truly make others around you happy without first being happy yourself. People who don’t approve of this don’t deserve your time.
  9. I joined a sorority my freshman year of college. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t mean I payed to have friends. We pay dues to hold events, not just social, but philanthropy, throughout our campus, community, and region. Check the stats. College fraternities and sororities are one of the biggest contributors to philanthropic endeavors. Don’t hate on something you don’t know about.
  10. I hate children. Ok, so hate is a strong word. I find them to be dirty and obnoxious. Yes, babies are cute, but I really have no tolerance for children no matter how adorable they might be. There are a few exceptions at the moment, but I’m sure that will change in a few years.
